24 February – Dave Horton

Dave Horton wrote an interesting paper on the Fear of Cycling where he argues that fear of cycling is, in many ways, a cultural construction.  An academic sociologist by qualification, he wrote the paper while working as a Reserach Associate at the Centre for Mobilities Research at Lancaster University.  (For anyone who doesn’t know that’s just a few short kms from the stunning Lake District).  Dave offers a really interesting, almost counter intuitive, perspective on why so many people choose not to ride.

Copenhagenize also do a nice piece of Dave’s paper
