A very special BikeLove this week.  This time last year I was lucky enough to watch The Tour of Flanders in Belgium.   An awesome one day race that tests the brute strength of the riders.  260kms in total, the race begins from the flat low lands and then makes 15 climbs heading towards the finish at Ninove.  Many parts of the race are cobblestone, big, flat, gruesome barbaric cobblestones… the kind that make you teeth jitter and arms kill.

Check out this years race this Monday 6th April

This week BikeLove visits London and more specifically interviews Jack Thurston from The Bike Show.

London is riding on the tide of the bicycle revolution.  The number of cyclists is astounding compared to just a few years ago.  If London can perform such a great turnaround, so can Sydney.

I talk to Jack about riding in London and the more recent bicycle renaissance.

This week BikeLove heads to Evandale in Tasmania to witness the very special National Penny Farthing Championship! This race has been gaining in popularity over the years and 2009 had a record turn out! Not for the faint hearted, the competitors zip around the tight circuit at 40kms an hour whilst balanced over 5 foot in the air. And it’s the original fixed wheel bicycle, even as you take the corners you still have to pedal.. Exhilarating to watch, listen to the MP3 and find out how the race unfolds.

This week on BikeLove I interview Susan Goodwin of Rocket Fuel.  A female entrepreneur, she has put the Shazammm into the style of cycling with her retro caps and capes!  She previously designed for Mambo and decided the cycling world could do with a re-style.  No more do you need to grace the streets wearing lycra or high viz!  She has lots of cool designs and uses only recycled vintage fabrics… what more could you ask for?rocket-fuel

So this week on BikeLove we finally get to hear about RiderSpoke! 2SER have moved their studios from the top of the UTS tower to one of the terraces on Broadway. Server complications resulted in RiderSpoke not being broadcast last week. So enjoy!

Next Monday (9th March) is International Womens Day and BikeLove will be responding in kind!
