Apologies for being so late.  I was run down with a cold and so BikeLove is a week out!

So, this week on BikeLove I took part in Rider Spoke which came to the MCA.  An interactive bicycle art project – it’s pretty compelling!  Roaming around the city with a GPS/mobile strapped to your bike.  Listening to a seductive voice ask you questions and encourage you to make recordings around the city.  You also have the chance to listen to other people’s recordings.  I spoke with Matt Adams one of the founding artists of this project.  He hails from my home town of Brighton!

Rider Spoke is currently in Adelaide… so get on down there!

This week I spoke to Rod Cooper and Robin Fox of Pursuit. They, along with Jon Rose, have created a number of amazing instruments… all propelled by bicycles! there’s drums, a turntable, pipes, violins and ukuleles. The experience is going to be an all senses extravaganza as bicycles roll around creating sounds in snychronised tandem under the old Carriageworks.
They’re playing at Sydney Carriageworks on 14th February 8pm… should be a good one!

A boy cycles through the snow in London

London received 6 inches… of snow and the city was transformed into a sublime, silent, wonderland.

Pete McDonald - Australian Champion 2009This week I interview Pete McDonald, Australia’s current National Road Cycling Champion. He had a stunning, exciting victory where Michael Rogers, three times world champion, was left eating his dust. Just five years ago, Pete worked as a bicycle messenger in Sydney’s CBD… no wonder he got good at sprinting fast! The National Road Championships lasted a gruelling 4hr 10min 34sec, along a course of 163.2km at Buninyong, near Ballarat. His victories don’t stop there, since picking up the National champion jersey, Pete has won the Tour of Wellington! Who knows what victories lay next in store!
