This week I spoke to Adrian Emilson and the discoveries he’s made during his PHD. He’s looking at the love…. or love lost, between cyclists and drivers on the road. As a cyclist we’re at the bottom of the pecking order when on the road… it’s like ‘law of the jungle’ out there and we’re the smallest… well almost! So, if we can’t ride bigger bikes what tactics should we employ for having altogether much smoother, more enjoyable experiences on Sydney roads?

8 December – My Power

Bike Love chats to Tom Gray, Mereki Garnett and Matt Coggan who have just finished cycling around Australia by bike. This incredible journey took them a year to complete. I bumped into them whilst they were tucking into burgers in Oporto on Broadway. Their bikes were parked outside and their BobYaks were full. They had just crossed the harbour bridge and were on their way to their final desintation, Cronulla. An environmental scientist, an architect and landscape architect, together they form mypower. An organisation designed to inspire others about living sustainably.

1 December 2008 – Cycle lanes
December 1, 2008 · Leave a Comment
This week BikeLove talks with Adam Fowler (Landscape Architect, City of Sydney) new and improved cycle lanes in Sydney! As part of the Cycle Strategy and Action Plan 2007 – 2017 City of Sydney have committed to implement 55kms of separated cycle lanes. Two plans are already afoot, the King Street cycleway and now Union Street in Pyrmont. Union Street is much in need of a cycle way to plug the gap between Pyrmont Bridge and Anzac Bridge.
